ALPHONSE DIAZ OF FAIR LAWN, NJ CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT AND CHILD ENDANGERMENT
Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of ALPHONSE DIAZ (DOB: 5/12/90, single; and employed as a customer service representative) of 1-15 Grunauer Place, Fair Lawn, New Jersey on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault, Sexual Assault, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, and the Fair Lawn Police Department under the direction of Chief Glen Cauwels.
On Monday, November 13, 2017, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information that a juvenile female reported that she was sexually assaulted by Alphonse DIAZ. As a result of an ensuing investigation by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Fair Lawn Police Department, Alphonse DIAZ was arrested on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 in Fair Lawn, New Jersey and charged with one count of Aggravated Sexual Assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(1), a 1st degree crime; one count of Sexual Assault by Sexual Contact, N.J.S.A. 2C:2C-142b, a 2nd degree crime; and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a, a 3rd degree crime. DIAZ appeared in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court for a first appearance on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.
Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would also like to thank the Fair Lawn Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
