These arrests are the result of a four-month-long investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti.

In August 2017, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force received information that Samuel IRIZARRY, aka “FAME”, was trafficking cocaine from Paterson, NJ into Bergen County, and an investigation was initiated. During the course of the subsequent investigation, Samuel IRIZARRY distributed cocaine to undercover detectives in various towns throughout Bergen County on multiple occasions.

On November 28, 2017, while under police surveillance, Samuel IRIZARRY, Jenece MIRANDA, and Alma RIVERA conducted a drug transaction for over one ounce of cocaine, all in the presence of IRIZARRY’s and MIRANDA’s two-year-old child. IRIZARRY, MIRANDA and RIVERA were subsequently arrested and each charged with one count of Distribution of Cocaine in an amount greater than one-half ounce but less than five (5) ounces, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5B(2), a second degree crime; and one count of Child Endangerment, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4A(2), a second degree crime. IRIZARRY received an additional charge of Distribution of Cocaine, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5B(3), a third degree crime for a narcotics transaction that occurred on August 28, 2017.  IRIZARRY, MIRANDA, and RIVERA are scheduled for first appearances in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 8:30 AM.

Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would also like to thank the Paterson Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
