Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of DEANGELO GONZALEZ (DOB: 2/161982; single; and employed as a laborer) of 11 River Edge Road, Bergenfield, New Jersey on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault, Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Bergenfield Police Department under the direction of Chief Cathy Madalone.
On August 18, 2017, the Bergenfield Police Department and Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit received information that Deangelo GONZALEZ had inappropriate sexual contact with a 13-year-old victim in Bergenfield, New Jersey.
As a result of the investigation, Deangelo GONZALEZ was arrested on Friday, December 15, 2017 in Bergenfield, New Jersey and charged with one count of Aggravated Sexual Assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(2)(c), a 1st degree crime; one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a, a 2nd degree crime; and one count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-3a, a 3rd degree crime. GONZALEZ was detained at the Bergen County Jail and had his first appearance in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court on December 16, 2017 at which time he was remanded to the jail pending a detention hearing yet to be scheduled.
Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would like to thank the Bergenfield Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
