Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of CHARBEL "CHARLIE" CHAOUL (DOB: 12/28/1988; single; and unemployed) of 798 Bergen Boulevard, Ridgefield, NJ on the charges of Possession Of Child Pornography, in an amount greater than 10,000 files, and Distribution Of Child Pornography, in an amount greater than 25 files but less than 1,000 files. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti.
On Friday, June 22, 2018, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a Court-authorized Search Warrant at the residence of Charbel "Charlie" CHAOUL during an Internet child pornography investigation. The investigation revealed that CHAOUL used the Internet to view, possess, and distribute digital files depicting nude or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children.
As a result of the investigation, Charbel "Charlie" CHAOUL was arrested on June 22, 2018 and charged with one count of Possession Of Child Pornography, in an amount greater than 1,000 files, to wit: 10,000 files, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(b)ii, a 2nd degree crime, and Distribution Of Child Pornography, in an amount greater than 25 files but less than 1,000 files, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(B)5(A)i, a 2nd degree crime. CHAOUL was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending an appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Acting Prosecutor Calo states that the charges are merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would like to thank the Ridgefield Police Department for its assistance in the investigation.
