Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrests of JEAN PIERRE RIVERA-MARRERO (DOB: 12/07/1990; single; barbershop owner) and GLORIANNE OYOLA-BETANCOURT (DOB: 05/04/1990; single; unemployed) of 2102 Ridge Way, Fort Lee, New Jersey for Money Laundering, Possession With Intent To Distribute Cocaine, and Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia charges. These arrests are the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti.
Over the course of several months, detectives with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force investigated a drug trafficking organization operating in and around Bergen County, NJ. The investigation revealed that Jean Pierre RIVERA-MARRERO was distributing kilograms of cocaine throughout New Jersey and New York and used his residence as a "stash" house for narcotics and illegal cash proceeds.
On August 20, 2018, detectives executed a search warrant at 2102 Ridge Way, Fort Lee, NJ and located and seized $297,269 as well as suspected cocaine and packaging materials commonly used for drug distribution. Jean Pierre RIVERA-MARRERO and Glorianne OYOLA-BETANCOURT were arrested and charged with one count of Money Laundering, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:21-25A, a 2nd degree crime, one count of Possession With Intent To Distribute Cocaine, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5B(3), a 3rd degree crime, and Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:36-2, a disorderly persons offense. RIVERA-MARRERO and OYOLA-BETANCOURT were released on their own recognizance pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack on September 5, 2018.
Acting Prosecutor Calo states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
