Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of SHANE W. O’CONNOR (DOB: 04/22/1975; single; and employed as a sales clerk) of 73 Calicooneck Road, South Hackensack, New Jersey on the charge of Possession Of Child Pornography. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti.
On Friday, October 5, 2018, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of Shane W. O’CONNOR following a months-long Internet child pornography investigation. The investigation revealed that O’CONNOR used the Internet to view digital files depicting nude or sexually explicit pubescent and prepubescent children. O’CONNOR was arrested and charged with one count of Possession Of Child Pornography in an amount less than 100 files, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(B)5(B)iii, a 3rd degree crime. He is scheduled for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack on October 17, 2018, at 9:00 a.m.
Acting Prosecutor Calo states that the charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Acting Prosecutor Calo thanks the South Hackensack Police Department for its assistance, as well as the Lyndhurst Police Department, which participates in the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force.
