Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of JOSUE ORELLANA (DOB: 6/30/2001; single; unemployed) of 309 56th Street, West New York, NJ, on charges of Attempted Murder, Unlawful Possession Of A Weapon, and Possession Of A Weapon For An Unlawful Purpose.

The arrest is the result of an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, the Cliffside Park Police Department under the direction of Chief Richard Gaito, the Fairview Police Department under the direction of Chief Martin Kahn, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Anthony Cureton, the West New York Police Department under the direction of Police Director Mark Flores, the Hudson County Regional SWAT Team under the direction of Executive Assistant Prosecutor Gene Rubino, and the Bristol Township (Pennsylvania) Police Department under the direction of Chief Robert Coulton.

On Thursday, August 22, 2019, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information that a male victim had suffered a gunshot wound in the area of 2nd Street in Cliffside Park, NJ. The investigation revealed that JOSUE ORELLANA chased the victim a short distance, ultimately confronting and shooting the victim in the back before fleeing the scene. The victim survived the gunshot wound.

On Wednesday, September 11, 2019, JOSUE ORELLANA was arrested in Bristol Township, PA by detectives from the Bristol Township Police Department with the assistance of detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Cliffside Park Police Department. JOSUE ORELLANA was charged with one count each of Attempted Murder, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1A(1)/2C:11-3A(1), a 1st degree crime; Unlawful Possession Of A Weapon, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4A(1), a 2nd degree crime; and Possession Of A Weapon For An Unlawful Purpose, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5B(1), a 2nd degree crime. He was remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility in Doylestown, PA. The Honorable Kenneth Deatelhauser, Magisterial District Judge of Bucks County, Pennsylvania set bail at $500,000.00 with no ten percent option, pending an extradition hearing.

Prosecutor Mark Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Cliffside Park and Fairview Police Departments, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, West New York Police Department, Hudson County Regional SWAT Team, and the Bristol Township Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
