Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of RONALD S. ROVITO, JR. (DOB: 6/13/1996; single; electrician) of 175 Paris Avenue, Northvale, NJ on charges of Possession And Distribution Of Child Pornography and Endangering The Welfare Of A Child. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti.
On Wednesday, November 6, 2019, in connection with an Internet child pornography investigation, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of RONALD S. ROVITO, JR. in Northvale, NJ. The investigation revealed that RONALD S. ROVITO, JR. used the Internet to view, download, or possess approximately 390 digital files depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children. In addition, RONALD S. ROVITO, JR. used numerous social media and file-sharing applications to share files depicting nude or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children, and engage in online conversations using a fictitious identity. During at least two such online conversations, RONALD S. ROVITO, JR. engaged in sexually explicit dialogue with two underage girls and collected approximately 20 nude or sexually explicit images from them.
As a result of the investigation, RONALD S. ROVITO, JR. was arrested on November 6, 2019 in Paramus, NJ and charged with one count each of Distribution Of Child Pornography in an amount greater than 25 files, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(a)i, a 2nd degree crime; Possession Of Child Pornography in an amount greater than 100 files, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(b)5(b)iii, a 3rd degree crime; and Endangering the Welfare Of A Child, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1), a 3rd degree crime. RONALD S. ROVITO, JR. was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
This investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit is continuing. Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and thanks the Northvale Police Department for its assistance.
