Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of WALTER RODRIGUEZ (DOB: 02/21/1992; married; unemployed) of Hackensack, NJ, on four counts of Endangering The Welfare Of A Child. The arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Hackensack Police Department under the direction of Officer-In-Charge Captain Peter Busciglio.
On Monday, March 2, 2020, the Hackensack Police Department and the Division of Child Protection and Permanency contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit to report child abuse concerns regarding a child under the age of sixteen. It was reported that the child arrived at school with injuries and told Hackensack school officials that the injuries were a result of being intentionally struck in the face by WALTER RODRIGUEZ. An investigation was initiated by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Hackensack Police Department.
As a result of the investigation, on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, WALTER RODRIGUEZ was arrested and charged with four counts of Endangering The Welfare Of A Child, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a, a 2nd degree crime. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Hackensack Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
