CORY BENSEN OF RIVER EDGE, NJ CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ASSAULT AND ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF A CHILD

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of CORY BENSEN (DOB: 06/25/1992; single; unemployed) of 109 Midland Avenue, Apartment 4A, River Edge, NJ on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault and Endangering The Welfare Of A Child. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Emerson Police Department under the direction of Chief Michael Mazzeo.

On Thursday, April 23, 2020, the River Edge Police Department received information that CORY BENSEN had sexually abused a child under the age of thirteen in Emerson, NJ. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit was contacted and an investigation was initiated by Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Emerson Police Department.

As a result of the investigation, on Friday, April 24, 2020, CORY BENSEN was charged with one count of Aggravated Sexual Assault, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(1), a 1st degree crime; and one count of Endangering The Welfare Of A Child, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4A(1), a 2nd degree crime. He was served with his Complaint while at the Bergen County Jail where he is currently detained on unrelated criminal charges. He will continue to be detained pending his appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the River Edge Police Department and the Emerson Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
