EDWARD V. ARNONE OF SAYVILLE, NEW YORK & LOUIS F. MORANO OF ELMONT, NY CHARGED WITH MULTIPLE CRIMES IN ARMED HOME INVASION ROBBERY

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of EDWARD V. ARNONE (DOB: 7/25/1971; divorced; unemployed) of 40 Johnson Avenue, Sayville, New York and LOUIS F. MORANO (DOB: 12/6/1988; single; truck driver) of 2262 Renfrew Avenue, Elmont, New York on charges of Armed Robbery, Conspiracy To Commit Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, Theft By Extortion, Possession Of A Weapon For An Unlawful Purpose, Unlawful Possession Of A Weapon, Armed Burglary, and Stalking. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Township of Washington Police Department under the direction of Chief Richard Skinner.

On April 17, 2020, the Township of Washington Police Department responded to a report of a home invasion robbery. The suspects were armed with a knife and fled the scene prior to police arrival. Township Police notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad, and detectives initiated a months-long investigation. The investigation revealed that EDWARD V. ARNONE and LOUIS F. MORANO forced their way into the home and held the resident at knifepoint while demanding items of value.

As a result of the investigation, arrest warrants were issued for EDWARD V. ARNONE and LOUIS F. MORANO on August 11, 2020, charging both men with one count each of Armed Robbery, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(2), a 1st degree crime; Conspiracy To Commit Armed Robbery, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2a(1) / 2C:15-1a(2), a 2nd degree crime; Kidnapping, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:13-1a, a 2nd degree crime; Theft by Extortion, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:20-5a, a 2nd degree crime; Armed Burglary, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:18-2a(1), a 2nd degree crime; Possession Of A Weapon For An Unlawful Purpose, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4d, a 3rd degree crime; Unlawful Possession Of A Weapon, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5d, a 4th degree crime; and Stalking, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-10b, a 4th degree crime.

On Friday, August 14, 2020, both men were located in New York by law enforcement. EDWARD V. ARNONE was located in Brooklyn, New York and LOUIS F. MORANO was located in Elmont, New York. Both were taken into custody on the Bergen County arrest warrants and are pending extradition to New Jersey.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutor Musella thanks the Township of Washington Police Department, New York City Police Department, Nassau County Police Department, Suffolk County Police Department, and United States Marshals Service for their assistance in this investigation.
