Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of JONATHAN BONILLA (DOB: 12/27/2000; single; package loader) of 153 Walter Avenue, Hasbrouck Heights, NJ on charges of Sexual Assault and Endangering The Welfare Of A Child. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department under the direction of Chief Michael Colaneri, Sr.
On Sunday, August 16, 2020, the Hasbrouck Heights Police contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit to report that they received information that JONATHAN BONILLA engaged in sexual penetration with a juvenile who was under the age of 16 and more than 4 years younger than BONILLA.
As a result of their joint investigation, on Monday, August 17, 2020, JONATHAN BONILLA was charged by the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department with one count of Sexual Assault, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2c(4), a 2nd degree crime; and one count of Endangering The Welfare Of A Child, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1), a 3rd degree crime. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
