PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND MAN CHARGED WITH POSSESSION WITH THE INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE COCAINE AND MONEY LAUNDERING

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of IZANDER LOPEZ-CRUZ (DOB: 6/21/1993; single; barber) of 22 Metropolitan Road, Providence, RI on charges of possession with intent to distribute cocaine and money laundering. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.
On January 18, 2023, during a narcotics investigation, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotic Task Force conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle as it traveled through Bergen County, NJ. The investigation revealed that the driver, IZANDER LOPEZ-CRUZ, was transporting two kilograms of suspected cocaine as well as $20,033.00 in U.S. currency.
As a result of the investigation, IZANDER LOPEZ-CRUZ was arrested at the scene and charged with first-degree possession with intent to distribute cocaine over five ounces, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(1); and third-degree money laundering, N.J.S.A. 2C:21-25a. LOPEZ-CRUZ was released pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
