Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announces the following information:

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Fort Lee Police Department are investigating two suspected overdose deaths that occurred at the Skyview Motel on Bergen Boulevard in Fort Lee, on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. At approximately 1:41 p.m., the Fort Lee Police Department responded to a rented room at the Skyview Motel for a possible medical call. Responding officers from the Fort Lee Police Department encountered five individuals who were in and out of consciousness and experiencing symptoms consistent with an overdose. The officers rendered medical assistance, including the deployment of Naloxone. Two individuals were later pronounced deceased, and the other three were transported to a local hospital. The victims’ names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

An investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Fort Lee Police Department under the direction of Chief Matthew Hintze. No other information is available at this time.
