RIDGEFIELD PARK, NJ MAN CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ASSAULT AND ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF A CHILD

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of ABRAHAM RIVERA (DOB: 04/02/2004; single; security officer) of Ridgefield Park, NJ on charges of aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Garfield Park Police Department under the direction of Chief Richard Uram.
On Thursday, September 28, 2023, the Division of Child Protection and Permanency contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Garfield Police Department revealed that ABRAHAM RIVERA sexually assaulted a child in Garfield, NJ on one occasion.
As a result of the investigation, on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, ABRAHAM RIVERA was arrested in Paramus, NJ and charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(2)(a); and two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1) and N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(2). RIVERA was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the Garfield Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
