For Immediate Release:
October 12, 2023

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of TYLER N. THOMAS aka TYLER D. RODRIGUEZ (DOB: 11/29/1995; single; unemployed) of 88 Euclid Avenue, Ridgefield Park, NJ on charges of theft, theft by deception, and money laundering. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Teaneck Police Department under the direction of Chief Andrew R. McGurr.

A joint investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit and the Teaneck Police Department revealed that TYLER N. THOMAS, also known as TYLER D. RODRIGUEZ, took possession of a U.S. Treasury check in the amount of approximately $100,000 intended for a Bergen County resident. THOMAS then created a fictitious LLC and opened a bank account to deposit the check for his own benefit. THOMAS subsequently withdrew funds and made several purchases prior to the detection of the fraud. On October 10, 2023, THOMAS surrendered himself to the Teaneck Police Department.

On October 10, 2023, TYLER THOMAS was charged with second-degree money laundering, N.J.S.A. 2C:21-25b(2)(a); second-degree theft, N.J.S.A. 2C:20-3(a); and second-degree theft by deception, N.J.S.A. 2C:20-4(a). THOMAS was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the Ridgefield Park Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
