Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of JAMES A. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

On Friday, May 20, 2022, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of JAMES RAZIN during the course of a months-long Internet child pornography investigation. The investigation revealed that RAZIN used the Internet to view, download, possess, and distribute files depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent children. In addition, RAZIN used the Internet to engage in live, one-on-one online chats with children and requested nude images and videos of them.

Furthermore, this investigation also led to the identification of a child victim, younger than 12 years old, who was being sexually exploited in Georgia by TOWNES BORUM of Columbus, Georgia. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit promptly notified the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (“GBI”) Child Exploitation & Computer Crimes Unit who immediately initiated a criminal investigation using the information uncovered in this case. Subsequently, Georgia law enforcement authorities located the child victim and executed a search warrant at a private residence there.

As a result of the investigation, JAMES RAZIN was arrested on Friday, May 20, 2022 in Paramus, NJ and charged by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office with first degree production of child pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4b(3); second-degree distribution of child pornography, N.J.S.A 2C:24-4b(5)(a)(i); third-degree possession of child pornography, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4b(5)(b)(iii); and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1). RAZIN was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.

On Saturday, May 21, 2022, TOWNES BORUM was arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and charged with sexual exploitation of children (possession of child pornography), sexual exploitation of children (distribution of child pornography), sexual exploitation of children (production of child pornography), and trafficking of a person for sexual servitude.
