Press Releases << SEEKING PUBLIC’S ASSISTANCE: BERGENFIELD, NJ MAN SOUGHT IN ATTEMPTED MURDER INVESTIGATION

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella is seeking the public’s assistance for information leading to the arrest of AARON SIERRA (DOB: 10/10/2000; single; unemployed) of 87 N Taylor Street, Bergenfield, NJ, on charges of attempted murder, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a handgun, receiving stolen property and obstruction of justice by flight. These charges are the result of an ongoing investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Bergenfield Police Department under the direction of Chief Mustafa Rabboh.

At approximately 6:50 p.m., on Sunday, May 21, 2023, the Bergenfield Police Department responded to a report of shots fired within a private residence. First responders discovered a 20-year-old female victim with multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to an area hospital and is in stable condition. An investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Bergenfield Police Department revealed that AARON SIERRA shot the victim and fled the scene.

On Monday, May 22, 2023, AARON SIERRA was charged by way of New Jersey Complaint-Warrant with first-degree attempted murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1/11-3(1) and N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1/11-3(2); second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a; second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b; third-degree receiving stolen property, N.J.S.A. 2C:20-7a; and fourth-degree obstruction of justice by flight, N.J.S.A. 2C:29-1.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he thanks the Bergenfield Police Department and the New York State Police for their continued assistance.
