Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announces the following updated information related to the Glen Rock shooting investigation being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Glen Rock Police Department under the direction of Chief Dean Ackerman.

As previously reported, on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at approximately 7:34 p.m., the Glen Rock Police Department responded to a disturbance at Wilde Memorial Park where a large crowd was gathered playing basketball on the outdoor basketball courts. First responders located an adult male, later identified as a 23-year-old Paterson, New Jersey resident, who sustained a single gunshot wound. The victim was treated at an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and released.

During the initial response, the Glen Rock Police Department was assisted by several neighboring law enforcement agencies including the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, Fair Lawn Police Department, Hawthorne Police Department, New Jersey Transit Police Department, Paramus Police Department, and Ridgewood Police Department. Subsequently, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Special Investigations Squad responded to the scene to initiate a joint investigation into the shooting incident. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active. The park remains closed to the public until further notice.
