Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of MICHAEL D’ANGELO (DOB: 7/09/1972; married; construction worker) of 115 E. 235th Street, Bronx, NY; DANIEL RUGGIERO (DOB: 12/17/1970; single; unemployed) of 65 Arnow Avenue, Bronx, NY; DOMINICK MEMOLI (DOB: 2/03/1966; single; construction worker) of 1201 Mace Avenue, Bronx, NY; BRUNO SIMONETTI (DOB: 8/18/1980; single; unemployed) of 390 Hutchinson Boulevard, Mount Vernon, NY; ERION BESHIRI (DOB: 1/14/1988; single; unemployed) of 2026 Haight Avenue, Bronx, NY; and SIAN STAFFORD (DOB: 6/29/1994; single; unemployed) of 412 Audubon Avenue, New York, NY on charges related to a home invasion in Fair Lawn, NJ that occurred in November 2022. The arrests are the result of a joint investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Fair Lawn Police Department under the direction of Chief Glen Cauwels.

On Thursday, November 17, 2022, at approximately 10:22 a.m., the Fair Lawn Police Department received a 911 call reporting a home invasion that occurred at a Fair Lawn residence. The actors involved posed as law enforcement officers, displaying NYPD-style detective badges. After being invited into the residence, they tied up the homeowner and stole cash and jewelry before fleeing the scene. The Fair Lawn Police Department notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office (“BCPO”) Special Investigations Squad and a joint investigation was initiated.

During the investigation, MICHAEL D’ANGELO, DANIEL RUGGIERO, DOMINICK MEMOLI, BRUNO SIMONETTI, ERION BESHIRI and SIAN STAFFORD were identified as suspects.

On Monday, May 22, 2023, BCPO detectives and Special Agents from the FBI Safe Streets/Violent Crimes Task Force executed a search warrant and multiple arrest warrants in Bronx, NY, Mount Vernon, NY and Long Island, NY. All six defendants were arrested without incident.

MICHAEL D’ANGELO and DANIEL RUGGIERO were each charged with first-degree kidnapping, N.J.S.A. 2C:13-1b; first-degree robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1); second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2(a)(1); second-degree armed burglary, N.J.S.A. 2C:18-2; second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b; second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a; third-degree theft by unlawful taking, N.J.S.A. 2C:20-3a; third-degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1(b)(2); fourth-degree aggravated assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(4); and fourth-degree impersonating a law enforcement officer, N.J.S.A. 2C:28-8(b).

DOMINICK MEMOLI, BRUNO SIMONETTI, ERION BESHIRI and SIAN STAFFORD were each charged with second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2(a)(1).

MICHAEL D’ANGELO, DANIEL RUGGIERO, DOMINICK MEMOLI, and SIAN STAFFORD were remanded to the Bronx Central Booking; BRUNO SIMONETTI was remanded to the Westchester County Jail; and ERION BESHIRI was remanded to the Suffolk County Jail. Each is being held pending extradition to Bergen County, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutor Musella would like to thank the Fair Lawn Police Department, the FBI Safe Streets/Violent Crimes Task Force, the Westchester County Police Department, and the New York City Police Department for their assistance with the investigation.
