“Regarding Extreme Risk Protective Order (ERPO)” This Directive relates to the Emergency Risk Protective Order Act, which takes effect on Sunday, September 1, 2019. The Act establishes a civil procedure whereby a petitioner can obtain a temporary and then a final Extreme Risk Protective Order against a person who is an “immediate and present” danger to her/himself or others and who owns, possesses, receives, purchases, or has custody or control of a firearm.
