Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced charges against ALEX CARROLL (DOB: 05/29/1987); DAVID FATE (DOB: 03/24/1984); and TARIQ KYAM (DOB: 11/06/1965) for an armed robbery that occurred in Teterboro, NJ on May 26, 2022. The arrests are the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

On Thursday, May 26, 2022, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Moonachie Police Officers responded to the parking lot adjacent to Costco located at 2 Teterboro Landing Driving on the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office (“BCPO”) Special Investigations Squad was notified, and as a result of their investigation, ALEX CARROLL, DAVID FATE, and TARIQ KYAM were identified as suspects.

On Friday, January 13, 2023, BCPO detectives served CARROLL with his criminal complaint at the Burlington County Jail, where he is currently incarcerated on charges unrelated to this investigation.

On Thursday, January 19, 2023, BCPO detectives served FATE with his criminal complaint at the Essex County Jail, where he is currently incarcerated on charges unrelated to this investigation.

On Friday, January 20, 2023, BCPO detectives served KYAM with his criminal complaint at the Westchester County (NY) Jail, where he is currently incarcerated on charges unrelated to this investigation.

ALEX CARROLL was charged with first-degree armed robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1); second-degree conspiracy to commit armed robbery N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2a(1); second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a(1); second-degree certain person not to possess a weapon N.J.S.A. 2C:39-7b(1); third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(2); third-degree theft by unlawful taking, N.J.S.A. 2C:20-3a; third-degree receiving stolen property, N.J.S.A. 2C:20-7a; and fourth-degree aggravated assault by pointing a firearm, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(4).

DAVID FATE was charged with first-degree armed robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1); second-degree conspiracy to commit armed robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2a(1); second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a(1); second-degree certain person not to possess a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-7b(1); third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(2); third-degree theft by unlawful taking, N.J.S.A. 2C:20-3a; third-degree receiving stolen property, N.J.S.A. 2C:20-7a; and fourth-degree aggravated assault by pointing a firearm, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(4).

TARIQ KYAM was charged with first-degree armed robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1); second-degree conspiracy to commit armed robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2a(1); second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a(1); second-degree certain person not to possess a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-7b(1); third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(2); third-degree theft by unlawful taking, N.J.S.A. 2C:20-3a; third-degree receiving stolen property, N.J.S.A. 2C:20-7a; and fourth-degree aggravated assault by pointing a firearm, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(4).

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
