Press Releases << THREE MEN CHARGED WITH DRUG DISTRIBUTION OFFENSES

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of ANTHONY NUNEZ (DOB: 4/05/1991; single; unemployed) of 100-05 92ND Avenue, Richmond Hill, NY; JOSE A. CASTRO-LOPEZ (DOB: 12/27/1988; single; unemployed) of 71 Union Street, Lodi, NJ; and GABRIEL GUZMAN (DOB: 12/07/1994; single; unemployed) of 590 Cypress Avenue, Saddle Brook, NJ on drug offenses. The arrests are the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

On April 19, 2023, an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotic Task Force revealed that ANTHONY NUNEZ, JOSE A. CASTRO-LOPEZ, and GABRIEL GUZMAN were transporting and selling bulk shipments of narcotics through Bergen County. During the investigation, a search was conducted on ANTHONY NUNEZ’s vehicle in Fort Lee, NJ which revealed approximately fourteen pounds of marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms. NUNEZ was arrested at the scene of the search. A search of JOSE CASTRO-LOPEZ’s vehicle was conducted in Saddle Brook, NJ which revealed approximately three pounds of marijuana. CASTRO-LOPEZ was arrested at the scene of the search. A search of GABRIEL GUZMAN’s residence revealed approximately fifteen pounds of marijuana, more than one pound of hashish, and psilocybin mushrooms.

As a result of the investigation, GABRIEL GUZMAN was arrested and charged with second-degree possession with intent to distribute marijuana, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(10)(b); second-degree possession with the intent to distribute hashish, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(10)(b); and third-degree possession with the intent to distribute psilocybin mushrooms, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(13).

ANTHONY NUNEZ was charged with second-degree possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(10)(b); and third-degree possession with the intent to distribute psilocybin mushrooms, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(13).

JOSE A. CASTRO was charged with third-degree possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(11)(b). The defendants were all released on their own recognizance pending their first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and he would like to thank the Saddle Brook Police Department for their assistance with this investigation.
