Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 60-year-old MICHAEL L. NORCIA, of Upper Saddle River, NJ, on charges stemming from a shooting incident. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Chief Jeff Angermeyer; the Upper Saddle River Police Department, under the direction of Chief Patrick Rotella; and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, under the direction of Sheriff Anthony Cureton and Chief Marc Metzinger.

On Friday, August 7, 2026, at approximately 12:00 p.m., the Upper Saddle River Police Department responded to possible shots fired at a private residence on Hidden Glen Road in Upper Saddle River, NJ. Upon arrival, responding officers suspected that shots had in fact been fired into an occupied home. Due to the nature of the report, members of the Bergen County Regional SWAT Team and Saddle River Police Department also initially responded to the area and provided assistance. Officers confirmed that no one was struck by the suspected gunfire and no injuries were reported. Shortly thereafter, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office were notified, responded to the scene, and initiated a joint investigation with the Upper Saddle River Police Department.

During the preliminary investigation, responding officers made contact with MICHAEL L. NORCIA, a resident of Mill Glen Court, an adjacent street in the residential neighborhood where the shooting took place. Detectives on scene determined that the shots emanated from the area of Mill Glen Court, which backs up to Hidden Glen Road. Further investigation revealed that the established trajectory for the path of one of the bullets was consistent with a direction originating from the area of NORCIA’S property on Mill Glen Court.

Later that same evening, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the Upper Saddle River Police Department, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office executed a court-authorized search warrant at the residence of MICHAEL L. NORCIA. During the search, detectives recovered firearms and ammunition from NORCIA’s home.

As a result of the investigation, on Friday, August 7, 2026, MICHAEL L. NORCIA was arrested and charged with second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a(1); and third-degree endangering another person, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-7.1a(3). NORCIA was lodged in the Bergen County Jail, pending further action by the Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Mark Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
