Bergen County Vehicle Initiatives
Bergen Beeps
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office joins the County of Bergen and the Bergen County Sheriff's Office to launch the “Bergen Beeps” initiative. In response to an alarming spike in vehicle thefts, this county-wide program encourages car owners to take preventative steps to safeguard the security of their vehicles.
“The number of stolen cars in Bergen County during the first 5 months of the year increased 85% over the same period last year. The #BergenBeeps campaign is focused on raising awareness of this issue and reminding Bergen County residents that we all need to lock our cars, remove our key fobs and keep valuables out of sight,” said Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of Detectives Jason Love.
In the coming weeks, you may see us at high-trafficked areas such as supermarkets and malls handing out useful tips and guidelines on how you can do your part in keeping your cars and belongings safe.
Electric Vehicles
ELECTRIFYING NEWS! We added two electric vehicles to the #BCPONJ fleet: a Tesla Model Y and a Chevrolet Bolt. This is part of a county-wide initiative to use “green” technology to reduce repair and maintenance costs and eliminate fuel costs, and both vehicles were purchased without the use of taxpayer dollars. Be on the lookout for these pollution-reducing vehicles around Bergen County, NJ.
