Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of WILLY MANN (DOB: 6/20/1995; single; supermarket employee) of 72 Newman Street, Apartment C1, Hackensack, New Jersey on charges of attempted murder and unlawful possession of a weapon. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Anthony Cureton, and Hackensack Police Department under the direction of Officer in Charge Captain Darrin DeWitt.

On Sunday, July 11, 2021 at approximately 10:33 p.m., the Hackensack Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call in which the caller reported shots being fired. Responding officers found a 28-year-old male victim with multiple gunshot wounds in the area of 27 Newman Street. He was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center where he is being treated for his injuries.

An investigation conducted by detectives from the Hackensack Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office was initiated and revealed that WILLY MANN shot the victim multiple times and fled the scene.

On Friday, July 16, 2021, WILLY MANN was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree attempted murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1a(1) / 2C:11-3a(1); one count of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a(1); and one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1). He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and Hackensack Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
